Student Poster Session and Competition Graduate and undergraduate students are invited to participate in the poster session and competition. The abstract deadline for student posters is February 19, 2010. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Each student should submit an abstract using the format guidelines described in the Abstract Guide (pdf). Please clearly indicate that the abstract is for the student poster competition. Include student status (graduate, undergraduate) and poster category (Materials Characterization,Materials Processing, Computational and Experimental Materials Science, Undergraduate). Each student can enter the competition with one poster only. Students will receive a confirmation note and a poster number shortly after submission. Only confirmed posters will be displayed. Each poster will be mounted on the boards provided at the conference site. Push pins for mounting posters will also be available on site. The poster boards will be arranged in the order that the posters are listed in the program. In order to participate in the competition all student posters must be in place Sunday, March 7, between 3:00-4:00 p.m. Students must be present to discuss their poster with judges on Sunday, March 7: 4:00-5:30 p.m., Monday, March 8: 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. Students are responsible for dismantling their posters no later than 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9. Posters left behind after the stipulated time for removal will be disposed of and are not the responsibility of the organization. Cash prizes and one-year student membership in AVS or FSM will be awarded to poster winners. A limited number of competing students from Florida Colleges and Universities will receive financial support to cover hotel and travel expenses.
